Hotel Goldener Adler in Ischgl is a very nice hotel to stay. The utmost quality of the hotel is its unique rooms and cosy atmosphere. Rooms are decorated in such a way that it gives you the warm feeling of your home. There are lots of small touches and tiny details that create this feeling. For instance the towels: instead of standard white pattern they have their unique colors for separate uses. The towels for use in sauna are attached to a separate bag for your use. In every detail you find something thoughtful. For instance the menu has a very nice small clipper attached to it. The pillowcases have nice engraving of the hotels’ initials. The rooms are extremely clean like the hotel itself. From the hygiene point of view this place deserves extra points anyway. It is clear that the Kurz family owning the hotel give importance to all these details that make you very comfortable during your stay.
The design of the hotel is both contemporary and still preserves the authenticity of Austrian Architecture. I personally don’t prefer the extra modern perspective some new resorts offer, they lack character if you ask me. The historic building this hotel is home to on the other hand have been decorated very nice. It has all the charm and character I have been looking.
The foods were another dimension I praise really high. It was a series of gastronomic sessions throughout our stay. The only thing is we were lucky to ski all day not to get some major weight gains after this delicious festive of Austrian Cuisine night after night. The ladies who served us were so elegant. They were cheerful, polite and extremely hardworking.
The Spa and Wellness area is also up to date and provides all amenities you look for after a long day of skiing.
The location of the hotel is also perfect. It lies in a very central location only two minutes walking to Filmbabahn tunnel that directly leads you through the base station of the cable car. If you choose to use the other major Gondola (cable car) Silvrettabahn it is also 4-5 minutes walking distance to opposite direction. Both of those Gondolas carry you to the Idalp, which is the center of the slopes (where the majority of the routes and slopes intersect)
The only thing I can say is, maybe because we did not fit the stereotype customer profile, (which I believe is to be German or Austrian) I felt a bit shy with communicating with other guests, hotel staff and the family running the hotel. That is to say, probably the more outspoken, extra friendly and sometimes irritatingly social nature of Mediterranean culture that I fit in :), may not match immediately with the more principal oriented Austrian nature. In a way we expect an immense level of friendliness, which probably would look strange for them… This observation however is totally an emotional one and in professional terms staff and Mrs. Kurz as the owner were more than helpful and polite to us.
In summary, Hotel Goldener Adler is a 35 room mid sized hotel, with top-notch qualities like excellent cuisine, very comfortable rooms, home like cosiness and extra attention to details and hygiene. It might not suit to pure entertainment seeking loud crowds but is a perfect choice for families or couples looking for an elegant option.
